Solo Session 2: The Last Chads Standing

The rescue team is assembled to help "Short-Stuff" save the other Paradis-Bros.

Preface - "Short Stuff" McGee has informed the Adventurers' Guild that a rescue party is needed to rescue the other 2 members of The Paradis-Bros, Brother Nelson and Sir Liftsalot, from the dungeon they went to explore for the contract with Mr. Planters on Coconut Island. They were taken alive by orcs, calling themselves The Boogaloo Boiiz Tribe, and to be used as slaves. Since the Paradis-Bros are registered members of the Adventurers' Guild and are still in good standing, meaning not getting caught doing evil or wanted by the law, then as part of the monthly upkeep costs the guild is required to send a party and pay 100 gold per level for each recovered member only to registered members of said rescue party. This means McGee will not get a cut for helping save his captive bros. As a result, a new party is assembled consisting of 4 members. They call their group, The Last Chads Standing.

11/28/23 - 12 pm noon The Verona docks at Coco Beach. The Last Chads Standing, and "Short Stuff" McGee waste no time. After leaving the ship they march straight to the dungeon. Since McGee has a map they can travel at 5x speed straight to the room where the orcs were last encountered. I rolled a d100 with 60% chance that the same 7 Boogaloo Boiiz would be back at their drinking spot. They were and they have their new slaves serving them drinks and cleaning up the place in chains.

Surprise is rolled and the party wins with a 6 vs the orcs 1. That is 5 segments of surprise! The orcs have no idea what is coming as they burst into the room. 1st segment of surprise David Lee Roth casts Sleep on a group of 3 orcs at the bar, then Ted Nugent fires 2 arrows into the room one hitting an orc at the beer pong table.

2nd segment of surprise, David Lee holds his move to sing Panama whilst Tiberius, Brother Allen, and Ted charge into the room for melee combat. McGee sneaks over to the bar and starts executing sleeping orcs. Tiberius hits with his septum, Ted hits with his short sword, and Brother Allen misses with his hammer. McGee is able to slit 1 of the 3 sleeping orcs throats.

3rd Segment of Surprise and the onslaught continues. Tiberius, Ted, and Allen all manage to kill an orc this round. McGee slits another orcs throat leaving only one sleeping orc left. They finish him off in the 4th segment of surprise, loot the bodies finding 21 Electrum pieces, a chest with the Paradis-Bros' items, and a key to the chains. They grab Brother Nelson and Sir Liftsalot heading straight out of the Dungeon and back into town.

They leave Brother Nelson and Sir Liftsalot under Brother Jauffre's care. They wont be able to adventure again until 12/5/23. The Last Chads Standing head to celebrate at the Coconut Tavern with "Short Stuff" McGee on a job well done.

11/29/21 - The Verona leaves at 12 noon today but the Last Chads Standing are not very satisfied with the amount of XP and loot they pulled out of the dungeon. McGee talks them into helping him explore the dungeon more until the ships next return. Plus they have upkeep costs that are going to eat up all of their reward anyway. The party gears up and heads back to the Coconut Dungeon.

They go directly to room 4 and check the door on the south wall for traps, they pass and the door is clear so Ted opens the door on a 3 thanks to his high STR. The room is a 40' by 60' rectangular room with a large wooden chest. They check for traps, fail, and open the chest. It isn't trapped but has 1,000 copper pieces.

The party carries the chest with them and head towards the 4 way intersection. As they get to the intersection they loose 1 torch and light another. They take the passage heading South until it comes to a dead end. The party backtracks to room 1 with the chest of copper. When they get to the room the encounter 2 shriekers. Surprise is rolled. The party gets a 2 and the Monster rolls a 5. Normally this would trigger a damaging surprise on the party, however due to them having a ranger Ted with them, the party can only be surprised if they roll a 1 and the party can surprise the enemy if they roll a 1-3. This means no one is surprised and we go straight into initiative.

1st round and the party win initiative, 6 vs 3. Terry, Allen, and David decide to charge one while Ted and McGee shoot arrows and throw daggers at the 2nd shrieker. The range each land a hit and the charge is an absolute dud. The shriekers begin to shriek.

2nd round and again the party wins initiative, 5 vs 1. Ted charges the shrieker with McGee, while the others keep swinging on their target. Ted misses but McGee lands his hit getting the kill. Terry thrusts his septum into the Shrieker hitting and killing the foul creature before it attracted any other monsters.

The party has 2 doors on the Eastern wall to choose from. They enter the one closest to them after checking for traps. There are no traps on the door but in the room is another story. This time the check for traps is a fail when it matters and after opening the door Tiberius falls into a 10' pit trap and takes 1 point of damage, but that is not all. The walls begin to slowly close on him. Its a d4+1 rounds until the walls cave in and I roll a 1. He only has 2 rounds. Fortunately for him the party has rope to throw down for him to climb up. If they didn't have rope it would of been game over for the paladin. Tiberius lays hands on himself and heals up the 1 lost hit point.

There is another another door on the south wall in this 20' by 20' room. Surely the next room will be safe. They check the door for traps and pass, no traps. Brother Allen opens the door and it leads into a 30' by 50' rectangular chamber with only one other door that leads back to room 1. Brother Allen steps into the room but falls into a pit trap taking 4 damage. They rope him up from the pit while McGee realizes they have finished mapping the whole first floor of the dungeon.

They leave the dungeon for the day. Brother Allen heals himself back to full in town, and Ted buys 5 more torches foe the delve tomorrow. The party spends all the copper they got from their split and 2 gold to pay for the inn. What a waste of time. Tomorrow should bring in some decent loot.

11/30/23 - They head straight to the dungeon first thing in the morning. They fallow the map to the stairs heading down to level 2. They take the stairs down and come to a hallway. They take the turning hallway until it opens up into a 30' by 50' chamber. Inside the chamber is 3 fire beetles that are looking for a snack. Surprised is rolled and no one is surprised. Its time for initiative.

The beetles win initiative with on a 3 vs 4. They are going to charge the front line before they get charged. 2 fire beetles miss but Ted gets hit by 1 for 5 damage. Ted fires his bow and misses both shots. Tiberius was the only other party member to hit a beetle for 2 damage

2nd round of Initiative goes to the beetles again on a 1 vs 3. The fire beetles miss all their hits so it goes right back to the party. Ted switches to his short sword and misses. Terry also misses hit hit but Brother Allen is able to get off a cure light wounds on Ted for 9 points healing him full.

3rd round of initiative and they both tie with a 2. since the party has weapons they will hit first, but all their attacks miss. The beetles lay some massive hits this round. A fire beetle hits Ted for 6 damage. Another beetle hits Tiberius for 5 damage putting him exactly at 0 a K.O. This is starting to look like last session.

4th round of initiative and the time for games is over. Initiative is again tied with both parties rolling a 4. David Lee Roth casts sleep and it effects all 3 beetles. The party quickly executes them while Brother Allen stabilizes Tiberius. The party harvests the 9 fire beetle glands which will provide light for only 2 days, then play it safe and leave the dungeon for the day.

Tiberius is brought to Brother Jauffre and will be unable to adventure until 12/8/23.

12/1/23 - All solo PCs pay upkeep costs leaving all of them penniless except "Short Stuff" McGee. Every PC rolls for disease and parasite checks and all of them pass. The Verona will arrive on 12/5/23 at 12 pm and will leave the next day at the same time. The problem now is the party now has no money to travel back to claim the reward for saving the Paradis-Bros. With 3 PCs down will the party try to get some last minute gold before the ship arrives? Maybe.

Meanwhile Mr. Planters is going to spend the gold he has collected from upkeep and taxes to fund the building of a small wooden Adventurers'' Hall to bring more adventurers to keep the town safe and help them expand. It will not be finished until 1/12/24.
