Solo Session 3: Island Grind

12/1/23 We pick up right were we ended the last solo session. The Verona will not return to Coco Beach until 12/5/23, the same day Sir Liftsalot, and Brother Nelson will be ready to adventure again. Tiberius Crews will need to wait till 12/8/23 to adventure again but he could still take the Verona back to Paradiso with The Last Chads Standing to claim their reward for the rescue mission.

The problem both parties are facing is being broke boys. Only "Short Stuff" McGee has any gold and still wants more to level up when he returns to Paradiso, to sell a copy of the map. He is about 6 rooms mapped out short to gain enough gold and XP to do so. McGee meets with the available members of The Last Chads Standing and offers them a deal. They help McGee map out 6 more rooms, then McGee will pay the travel costs for them to return to Paradiso, as well as a split from any recovered loot from the dungeon. Not having much of an option, The Last Chads Standing accept, and they head out to the dungeon inside Coconut Cave.

They form up and with Ted and Brother Allen in the lead fallowed by "Short Stuff" and David Lee Roth. Thanks to McGee's map, the party moves at 5x speed down to level 2 room 9; the same room the fire beetles from last session were located. McGee checks the door on the West wall for traps, he fails. The Party tries to open the door but it takes 3 attempts, oof. They move into room 10 which is a square 20' by 20' room with 3 other exits. The Party decides to take the door to the South. McGee fails to find any traps, but this time ted is able t open the door on the first attempt.

This leads to room 11 another square room with the same dimensions as room 10.This room however has 2 exits and a ladder going up, which I adjudicate is the trap door located on level 1 in the 20' hallway leading to room 3. The party decides to take the door on the Southern wall again. "Short Stuff" once again checks for traps and fails his check again. Ted is able to open the door again and they head into room 12.

Room 12 is an odd shaped room that is 1,300 square feet. There are no exits except for a secret door that the party is not able to locate. The party just sees a large empty room, they map it out and head back to room 11. Once again McGee checks for traps, he must be having a bad day because he fails the check again. Ted opens the door and they move into room 13.

This room is a 20' x 30' with 3 exits but its not empty like the other rooms. It is occupied by 2 fire beetles and has a medium coffer in the corner. Surprise is rolled and its 6 vs 5 which is no surprise for either side. Initiative is rolled and the party wins the roll, 5 vs 2. David Lee Roth casts sleep which is able to effect both fire beetles. The party executes them and takes their 6 fire glands which will provide light until 12/5/23, the perfect amount of time needed. The party searches and takes the coffer containing 4,400 silver pieces

12/2/23 Yesterday was a huge step to achieving their goal for McGee. They have already cleared 5 of the 6 rooms needed for the deal. They gear up and each take a fire beetle gland for light. Then they head straight to the dungeon and head to room 10 on level 2 at 5x speed. They decide they will take the right door on the Northern wall of the room. McGee checks for traps but fails his roll again. This time David Lee opens the door It leads to a hallway heading East eventually turning North. The hallway ends with a door on the Eastern wall and opens with an archway into room 14. Unfortunately the room is being guarded by 4 hobgoblins. Surprise is rolled and no one is surprised on a 5 vs 4. Initiative is rolled and the monsters win, 1 vs 2. The hobgoblins charge but only 2 of them are able to strike since the party is still in the passage. They both miss. David Lee Roth casts sleep which effects 3 of the 4 hobgoblins. Brother All and Ted both miss their hits and its time for the next round of initiative.

2ns round and initiative is tied, 5 vs 5. Ted's spear goes first and he stabs the hobgoblin for 3 damage. Brother Allen tries to hit with his flail but he misses. The hobgoblin tries to hit back at Ted with a short sword but misses. McGee slips around for a back stab position and David Lee Roth chills.

3rd round and they party wins initiative again, 5 vs 1. Ted misses with his spear but Brother Allen smashes the creatures skull with his flail. The party executes the sleeping hobgoblins and they search the room and bodies. They only recover a pitiful 52 copper pieces. The leave the dungeon so David Lee Roth can recover his spell.

12/3/23 Even though the members of Last Chad Standing completed "Short Stuff" McGee's quest, they still lack funds for lodging, food and beverage until The Verona's return on the 5th. Looks like everybody has to go back to the dungeon again. This time the travel to the door before room 14 on level 2 at 5x speed. McGee checks for traps and fails. It takes 2 attempts but Brother Allen is able to open the door leading to a 20' by 30' room with 2 exits. The room is trapped and McGee failed his check, so Ted who is in the lead walks right into it. Its an arrow trap! Lucky for Ted it wasn't a poisoned arrow, there is a 20% chance. The arrow hits him dealing 6 damage. Brother Allen is quick to heal his companion, while McGee hammers a metal spike into the hole the arrow shot from to shut it down. There are 2 other exits and the room is empty. They take the door on the Southern wall. Traps are searched for and the check is not passed, but there are no traps. Brother Allen opens the door on the first attempt.

The door leads to a 60' hallway with a door that leads back to room 15. They take the door on the Eastern wall. McGee passes his roll and Ted also opens the door on the first try. this leads to a hallway that hugs the East and North walls outside of room 14. The party heads back to room 13 at 5x speed. They check the door to the North knowing it has to be a 20' by 30' chamber because of the map. They pass both rolls, but the room is empty.

They now take the door to the South in room 13. Again they pass both checks and come to an empty square 20' by 20' room with one door to the South. McGee fails his check, but they open the door and there are no traps. It leads to a long straight 120' hallway ending with an archway leading into a 20' by 30' chamber but its not empty. There are 2 shriekers acting as an alarm for 2 chests. Surprise is rolled, 2 vs 2. Normally this would be a both surprised however due to having a ranger the party actually gets 1 segment of surprise. That is all they need. David Lee Roth casts sleep on the shriekers causing their mouths to pucker close and the party execute them. They check the treasure for traps and its clean. 2,200 silver pieces and 550 gold pieces. A good haul. They take the loot and leave the dungeon with no encounters. They are able to hold out until the Verona arrives to take everybody back to Paradiso.

12/5/23 Sir Liftsalot and Brother Nelson are able to adventure again. The Verona arrives at at Coconut Beach at 12 pm.

12/6/23 The Last Chads Standing and Paradis-Bros both take the Verona back to Paradiso at 12 pm to take care of some minor things. McGee pays 116 gold and 10 silver to pay for everybody's trip, and then he makes a copy of his map during the voyage.

12/8/23 Tiberius Crews is able to adventure again.

12/9/23 The Verona arrives at Paradiso at 12 pm. Everyone, but McGee heads to the Adventurers' Guild. The Last Chads Standing show the 2 they were sent to rescue are fine and collect a measly 200 gold pieces. Meanwhile, "Short Stuff" McGee goes to sell his updated map to the Explorers' Guild for 1,300 gold pieces for the 13 added rooms. McGee meants with the party and tells them he is going to train for the next week.
